Ely's Summer Festivals, Concerts, Farmers Markets, July 4th Fun
It is full summer in Ely and there is so much to do! Every Tuesday at Whiteside Park we have our Farmers Market starting at 5:00. There are craft booths, live entertainment, homemade goodies, food trucks, and local folks selling garden produce, canned goods and homemade jams and jellies. Our local Northern Arts Association is offering concerts and musicals with its Broadway in the Boundary Waters series and outdoor concerts. Bright Star is the wonderful musical coming up weekends June 20th through 30th. This musical features fantastic performers from around the country and locally. The next offering this summer is Into The Woods July 18th through 28th. Tickets are available at northernlakesarts.org. Ely is famous for its 4th of July celebrations with fireworks and a great parade, food trucks and entertainment. The Pickup Truck Opera comes to Ely August 8th in Whiteside Park. And this is just a sampling of what Ely offers this summer! Check out the many classes at the Ely Folk School. A couple of our recent Raven’ Wing guests enjoyed a birding hike with the Folk School. It was led by one of our local bird experts and our guests had a great time. And, of course, summer is festival time here in Ely. Our Blueberry Arts Festival is July 26th through 28th. Whiteside Park will be absolutely filled with the tents of artists and crafts people, food trucks, live entertainment and fun for all ages. And then we do all it again with the Harvest Moon Festival September 6th through 8th. Also in September is the Ely Marathon on September 21st. Only in Ely will you see folks running a marathon while portaging a canoe!! So while you come to Ely to canoe, fish and hike you also have the opportunity to experience arts and entertainment you won’t find anywhere else.
